Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, of Belfast. Anthony Thomas Jackson, the elder son of THOMAS JACKSON  THOMAS JACKSON and brother of WILLIAM RIDGEWAY JACKSON WILLIAM RIDGEWAY JACKSON , was born in Belfast on 16 June 1838.(1) He was articled to Ewan Christian in London.(2)  In 1867 he and his brother entered into partnership with their father, but soon afterwards, probably in 1869, when he designed the new Belfast Town Hall, Anthony Thomas set up in independent practice. He was declared bankrupt in September 1881,(3) retired in 1908 and died in 1917. His pupils and asstants included WILLIAM DOUBLEDAY.  WILLIAM DOUBLEDAY.
