Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Engineer. Edward Barrington, son of Edward Barrington, farmer, of Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow, was born on 20 July 1827 and entered Trinity College, Dublin, in July 1842 at the age of fourteen. He graduated BA in 1847 and was awarded the Diploma in Civil engineering in 1849 and the MA degree in 1850. His career was spent in the United States. He died on 15 September 1904. He married Anna Maria, daughter of Antony Pierce Allen of Ballystraw, Co. Wicklow, in Ireland in 1885.

ICEI: elected associate member, 1874; member, 1880;(1) delivered papers on 'Railways in the New World', 19 March 1881(2) and 'American Bridge Practice', 1895;(3) one of six members 'untraceable through their foreign address…removed from the roll on the assumption that they are dead', 1924.(4)
