Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, of Belfast. Thomas Todd Houston, a son of THOMAS HOUSTON THOMAS HOUSTON , was born on 29 August 1917 and educated at Campbell College, Belfast, from 1930 to 1935. He then entered his father's office. On qualifying in 1941 he took over the practice, his father having died in 1938. He moved the office from 17 Wellington Place to 26 College Gardens in 1947 or 1948. He is not to be confused with Trevor Anthony Houston, who practised from 30 College Gardens during the same period.

Thomas Todd Houston was particularly interested in architectural restoration and worked for many years for the National Trust. In 1971 he won a Civic Trust award for his work on Wellbrook beetling mill. In the 1970s he suffered partial loss of sight and in about 1976 retired to Kettlewell in the Yorkshire Dales with his wife Nancy. He died on 27 November 1978.
