HOLLAND, WILLIAM *#

Stained glass artist, of St John's, Warwick, who is named in G.R. Powell's Official Railway Handbook (1860)(1) as the artist of the west window in the dining room at Hollybrooke, Co. Wicklow. This window has been removed, but the staircase window which is still in place is signed and dated 'Holland & Sons, Warwick, 1837'.(2) Holland also made two stained glass windows for the chapel of Lough Fea House, Co. Monaghan, in 1839.(3) In 1872-1873 Holland, Son & Bolt of Warwick made a stained glass window for the west end of St Canice's Cathedral, Kilkenny, depicting the Good Shepherd, 'Feed my Sheep' and six miracles.(4) Christ Church, Bray, has one signed window by William Holland, and two which have been attributed to him by David Lawrence; the Great West Window (c. 1889) is attributed by Lawrence to Holland & Bolt.(5)
