Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Engineer, of Derry City. John James Stewart Barnhill,, who was born on 25 May 1869, was educated at Londonderry Academical Institution from 1877 to 1885 and at Magee College for a further year. After serving a five-year apprenticeship with HUME BABINGTON HUME BABINGTON , he went into into private practice in Derry in 1891. He was engineer to Derry Rural District Council from 1903 or earlier.(1)

ICEI: elected member, 1 March 1911;(2) no longer on list of members for 1922-23.
