Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Engineer and surveyor, of Birr, Co. Offaly, and Dublin. William Haslam, who was born in Co. Offaly in 1869 or 1870 graduated BAI from Trinity College, Dublin, in 1891(1) He then worked for the Great Southern & Western Railway Co.(2) By 1894 he was supervising the construction of a coastguard station at Waterville, Co. Kerry, for the Board of Works(3) and by 1896 he was with the Board of Works in Tipperary.(4) Based in Birr from 1893 or earlier,(5) from 1899 or 1900 he also had an office at 4 Eustace Street, Dublin.(6) He died in 1901 or 1902.(7) He was unmarried at the time of the 1901 census of Ireland, when he was living as a boarder in 91 Baggot Street Lower.
