Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Chief of the drawing office and technical staff at Workman, Clarke & Co, Belfast. According to the 1911 census, James Cooper Harding was born in England in 1859 or 1860.   He trained as an engineer at Erith in Kent and was chief draughtsman at a firm in West Hartlepool before coming to Belfast in about 1902. He had been on the staff of the shipbuilders Workman, Clarke & Co for twenty-one years as chief draughtsman when he died of pneumonia early in 1924.  According to the 1911 census he had married his wife, Jessie Ann, circa 1888 and had four surviving children.
