Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Civil engineer and architect, of Dublin. Frederick Barnes, who had previously been living in Co. Kilkenny, was elected surveyor to Pembroke Township in 1863(1) and was also surveyor to Blackrock Township from 1865(2) or earlier to 1887 or later.(3)

Barnes married Matilda, daughter of the Rev. George Armstrong, of Listerlin, Co. Kilkenny, (4) on 26 April 1848.(5) His sons JOHN FREDERICK EVELYN BARNES  JOHN FREDERICK EVELYN BARNES and Robert Samuel Wemyss Barnes were both apprenticed to him.
