Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Engineer. John Grantham was born in Croydon in 1809, the second son of JOHN GRANTHAM [1]  JOHN GRANTHAM [1] and younger brother of RICHARD BOXALL GRANTHAM RICHARD BOXALL GRANTHAM . As a very young man he worked with his father in Ireland on the intoduction of steam navigation on the canals between Dublin and Limerick and on the River Shannon, but he had already taken up employment in Liverpool by 1830. He subsequently became a naval architect and engineer.
