Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, of Belfast. Herbert James Goskar, son of James John Goskar and his wife Sarah née Brainsby, was born in Belfast on 16 June 1880.(1) He was apprenticed to WILLIAM JOHN GILLILAND  WILLIAM JOHN GILLILAND and was Gilliland's assistant in 1901 when he became a member of the RIAI.   He continued to use Gilliland's office address, 9 Howard Street, until his membership ceased in 1909. (2)

RIAI:  elected member, 1901, having been proposed by William John Gilliland, seconded by JOHN JOSEPH MCDONNELL  JOHN JOSEPH MCDONNELL and WILLIAM JOHN FENNELL.  WILLIAM JOHN FENNELL. (3)  ceased membership, 1909.
