Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Measurer, of Dublin. Thomas Gorman appears as a measurer in Wilson's Dublin Directory for the years 1825 to 1827 with an address at 33 Harcourt Street and for the years 1828-1836 with an address at 33 Hardwicke Street. He had died by 1 December 1836, when his will was proved.(1) In his will he is designated measurer and builder.(1) The Thomas Gorman who was admitted to the Dublin Society's School of Architectural Drawing on 7 December 1797(2) may possibly be the same person.

In the Post Office Directory for 1839 a Thomas Gorman 'architect and civil engineer' is listed as living at 33 Hardwicke Street, and in the edition for 1844 'Thomas A. Gorman, esq.' is listed at the same address. However the 'Street Directory' sections of Pettigrew & Oulton's Dublin Almanac for 1841 contradicts this information, listing only a Mrs Gorman at no. 33 in 1841.
