Architect, of London, for whom see Howard Colvin, A Biographical dictionary of British architects 1600-1840 (3rd edn., 1995), 75. Samuel Angell was appointed surveyor to the Clothworkers' Guild in 1824, and as such was responsible for the first stage of the redevelopment of Waterside, Derry, circa 1843, and for a development scheme for Castlerock, circa 1849. He designed the former Clothworkers' Arms Hotel in Waterside as part of this scheme, and also designed a house and a 'bathing lodge' at Castlerock, Co. Derry. From about 1860 most of his duties were taken over by FREDERICK WILLIAM PORTER. FREDERICK WILLIAM PORTER.
