Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Sculptors and monumental masons of Prospect Avenue, Glasnevin, Dublin. John Farrell, a brother of Terence Farrell (see FARRELL & FARRELL & amp; SONS), established a sculpture and monumental masonry business at the gates of Glasnevin Cemetery in 1837.   He was joined by his son, Peter Farrell, who was born in 1831, and lived at Kenmare, Frankfort Avenue, Rathgar.  Peter Farrell died in 1882, when the firm was taken over by the manager, Peter Hynes. Still trading under the name of Farrell & Son, it remained in the hands of the Hynes family until 1942, expanded to incorporate the neighbouring Fitzpatrick & Sons in 1944, and is currently owned by John B. Brennan.

Address:  Prospect Avenue, Glasnevin.
