Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, of Dublin. W.D.E. Butler became a member of the AAI in 1899 but disappears from the membership list for the session 1907-8. His address is given as 22 Clare Street, the office of Sir THOMAS DREW THOMAS DREW , whose pupil or assistant he presumably was.  He is probably the William E. Butler who was living as a boarder in Kenilworth Road, Rathmines, at the time of the 1901 census, described in the household return as a twenty-two year old architect's articled clerk and a native of Co. Clare.(1)
