Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Civil engineer and writer. John Doyle was the author of Old Ireland Improved and made New Ireland: Being outline sketches of some great measures and of a great system of public works for improving the condition of the people and for opening up and developing the resources of the country (London, 1881) and of a pamphlet, The Ireland of the past and of the future, being a letter to the Right Hon. W.E. Gladstone, M.P., Prime Minister (Dublin, 1886). He is presumably the John P. Doyle, CE, who was living at 23 Highfield Road, Rathgar, 1887-93 and at 2 Orwell Road, 1894-98(1) and who was the author of a moving letter about the last days of Sir JOHN MACNEILL JOHN MACNEILL , published in the Irish Builder on 15 August 1887.(2)
