- Born: - Died: 1951
Town surveyor for Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh. James Donnelly was the son of a builder and received his early training in his father's firm. On the death of THOMAS ELLIOT in 1915, he was appointed town surveyor for Enniskillen, a post which he held until his retirement in 1947.(1) He was consultant engineer to Enniskillen Rural District Council, the Fermanagh Regional Education Committee and the Fermanagh Hospitals Management Committee. He also ran a private architectural practice, which undertook various work in Fermanagh and the neighbouring counties, including many commissions from Catholic parishes and religious orders; from circa 1936 he was in partnership with his sons.(2) He died in 1951. The practice of J. Donnelly & Sons continued for some time after his death, at least until 1963.(3)
