Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Engineer. Folliott Barton, third son of Hugh William Barton, of The Waterfoot, Pettigo, Co. Fermanagh, was born on 23 May 1838. He served a pupilage with WILLIAM RICHARD LE FANU WILLIAM RICHARD LE FANU , which terminated in 1860. From 1861 to 1862 he was an assistant engineer on the Roscrea & Nenagh Railway, and from 1863 to 1864 was employed on railway survey work in Belgium, Luxembourg and Austria. After working on the Cassaba railway in Turkey, he returned to Ireland, where he was engaged in baryte mining in Co. Sligo. He later emigrated to South Africa. He died in 1888.(1)
