Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, of Cork, active from the 1790s until the 1820s. On 4 February 1799 John Conway married a Miss Scraggs, daughter of John Scraggs of George's Street,(1) who must have died not long afterwards, as on 4 February 1805 he married her sister Charlotte.(2) He is listed as an architect in Connor's Cork Directory for 1812 and 1817. In 1819 he took over Scraggs 'family and general hotel and tavern', in George's Street,(3) which he advertised in The Constitution, 31 May 1824. His address is given as George's Street in Pigot & Co.'s City of Dublin and Hibernian Provincial Directory (1824), 248.
