Engineer, of Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan. John Connolly was described as 'engineer to Monaghan District Council' in 1918 when he was appointed an assistant county surveyor for Co. Monaghan with responsibility for Castleblayney Rural District.(1). He remained in the post of an assistant county surveyor for Co. Monaghan (from 1944 onwards called assistant county engineer) until 1949 or 1950.(2)
