Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

London-based Italian decorative painter and engraver, for whom see Oxford DNB. Bartholomew Mosse, at the time of his death in 1759, was in negotiation with Cipriani about the decoration of the ceiling cartouches of the Rotunda Chapel.(1) In 1767 or 1768 Cipriani made drawings for the dragons on the gate piers which WILLIAM CHAMBERS  WILLIAM CHAMBERS designed for the Earl of Charlemont at Marino, Clontarf, Dublin;(2)  he also designed the statues of Apollo, Venus, Bacchus and Ceres on the building itself.(3) He was apparently connected with the design of chiaroscuros for the library at Chambers's Charlemont House in Dublin, built 1762-1775,(3) and is said also to have been involved in the decoration of Castletown, Co. Kildare.(4)
