Nature: New chapel-of-ease on site given by Hon. Sidney Herbert.  14th century Gothic, with nave, chancel, vestry, belltower, spire and porch.  FS laid 1 Aug 1857. Consecrated 9 Jun 1859. Contractor: Thomas H. Lee, Drogheda.  Approx. cost, £2,600 (original estimated cost was £1,400 with extra £400 for internal furniture and fittings).
