Date: 1842-43
Nature: New cruciform church with W tower & spire, 5-bay nave, porches, W tower & spire; 'erected in 1843, by the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, and situated on an eminence on the west side of the town, upon the site of a former structure'(Slater). Consecrated 22 Oct 1845. (Destroyed by fire, 1899, but restored and reopened 15 Mar 1901.)
