Nature: New school with separate boarders' house (entered from University Rd) 'erected by the enterprise of Mrs [Margaret] Byers' who founded school in 1859. Exterior walling of rock-faced rubble with square beds and joints of Scrabo sandstone. Memorial stone laid 23 Dec 1873. Completed late 1874. Builder: Robert Corry. Cost over £5,000. Y & M exhibit photograph of same at Belfast Industrial Exhibition, 1876. Proposed adds., 1879.
