Nature: New 5-storey corn store built of local limestone . Facing river with 'massive square tower…of Italian character'. Expected cost £6,395. Builders: McCarthy & Guerin. Dispute over payment at completion of building, which contractor's men occupied until forcibly ejected. Partial collapse, 1875, caused by expansion of grain in the bins.
