Nature: | New cruciform Gothic church and school. Designed by Joseph Welland & Son. Church opened for worship 1 Nov 1861, tho' already 'completed for some time'. Consecrated, 21 Nov 1862. Funds of 'some £10,000' for erection provided by John Gold, stockbroker, of Cullenswood Lodge, Dublin. Builder: Cockburn & Son. Limestone with Portland stone dressings; Caen stone used for internal arches & columns. Work supervised by Mr McAllister. Endowment of £110 p.a. for minister. |
