Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Selected: CO. DOWN, ANNAHILT, CHURCH OF THE ASCENSION (CI)

Name: FULLERTON, WILLIAM TURNEY
Building: CO. DOWN, ANNAHILT, CHURCH OF THE ASCENSION (CI)
Date: 1856
Nature: New church, consecrated 29 Jul 1856. Attr. to WF by J.F. Rankin, on grounds that Deed of Consecration says that  WF condemned the old church, deducing from this that he can be assumed to have designed the new one;  however as local architect to the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, he may have been the executant architect rather than the designer of the church.  See Joseph Welland.
