Nature: Designs, 1845, rejected as too expensive by Board of Works. AWNP appointed architect by Sir Robert Peel. resigned Jan 1846; reappointed July 1847 for reduced scheme. Contract dated 17 Jul 1847. Clerk of Works: Richard Pierce. Builder: W.H. Beardwood.  Chapel not proceeded with 'owing partly to want of funds and partly an objection made on sanitary grounds by the ten physician to the college, now Sir Dominic Corrigan, who did not approve of closing entirely the north side of the quadrangle.'
