Nature: New church in French Gothic with tall tower and spire. Plans commissioned by Very Rev. Dr Mathews and carried out by his successor, Very Rev. T. Allen, 'famed as a church builder throughout Meath' (Irish Times). Corner stone laid 17 Mar 1881. Consecrated April 1884. Completed 1889.

Over the altar of St Joseph are representations, also from tours, of St Bridge, St Patrick and St Joseph.'
