CARPENTER, RICHARD HERBERT #

English architect, for whom see Directory of British Architects 1834-1914 (RIBA 2001), I, 336. Richard Herbert Carpenter was the son of RICHARD CROMWELL CARPENTER . In 1863 he was taken into partnership by his father's former assistant WILLIAM SLATER to form the firm of SLATER & CARPENTER . After Slater's death Carpenter took BENJAMIN INGELOW into partnership and worked with him on the restoration of St Patrick's Church of Ireland Cathedral, Armagh, in 1886-90.
