Scottish-born architect and cicerone, of Rome, for biography of whom see Howard Colvin, A Biographical dictionary of British architects 1600-1840 (4th edn., 2008), 208-209. In 1789 Byres designed an unexecuted classical scheme for Charleville Forest, Co. Offaly, for the the first Earl of Charleville.(1)
