Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Surveyor and architect, of Dublin. Walter Butler, who, according to the 1911 census, was born in Co. Tipperary in 1854 or 1855, worked as a surveyor with Dublin Corporation from 1895 or earlier, and by 1915 had become chief building surveyor to the Corporation, a post which he held until 1922 or later. By 1927 he appears to have left the Corporation and styled himself 'architect'. Possibly the same person as WALTER BUTLER [2].& WALTER BUTLER [2].& nbsp;  The 1911 census records him as a married man  living at 1 Percy Place with his wife, two sons - John and Walter - and two daughters..
