Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Engineer. Henry Browne, a son of William Browne, an assistant county surveyor for Co. Offaly, served a four-year pupilage with his father. In about 1882 he too became an assistant county surveyor for Co. Offaly, holding the post until at least 1929. He was also town surveyor of Birr, Co. Offaly, from 1902(1) or earlier until 1934 or later. He died in 1940 or 1941.(2) His brother, George Browne, was an engineer in the arterial drainage department of the Office of Public Works.
