DAVIS, WHITMORE [1]
- Born: - Died: -
Architect and bricklayer, said to have come from Newbliss, Co. Monaghan. Whitmore Davis was working for Edward Madden at Spring Grove, Clones, Co. Monaghan, when he was approached in 1762 by Lady Caldwell of Castle Caldwell, Co. Fermanagh, about the proposed rebuilding of Castle Caldwell. Davis undertook to superintend the rebuilding work for a fee of £840, with the assistance of his son. He also designed the stable block. He was presumably the father or a close relative of WHITMORE DAVIS [2].
