Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Civil engineer. According to the 1911 census, Henry Charles Brett, a son of HENRY BRETT  HENRY BRETT and brother of JOHN HENRY BRETT JOHN HENRY BRETT , was born in Co. Mayo in 1849 or 1850.  He received the Licence in Civil Engineering from Trinity College, Dublin, in 1870.(1) He served a three-year pupilage under his father, and was subsequently in partnership with his father and brother for twelve years. He was appointed a land improvement inspector by the Board of Public Works in 1883, later becoming chief inspector with responsibility for the Dublin district. The 1911 census records him as living with his older sister Harriett at 19 Wellington Road, Dublin. He died on 5 July 1926 and was buried with his father and other members of his family at Deansgrange cemetery, Dublin.(2)
