Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect who initialled a design for a church, annotated: 'I have placed the windows all on one side according to Dr Bennings wish'. Conway Benning, who received the LL.D. degree in 1776, was vicar of Rathmolyon, Co. Meath, from 1778 until 1823; it seems possible therefore that the design, which is among the architectural drawings from the Farnham collection sold at auction by HOK Fine Art, 17 June 2004 (Lot 279), is for Rathmolyon church. Lewis describes the church as 'a neat edifice built in 1797'.(1)
