Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

English landscape architect, garden designer and writer, for whom see Ronald Webber, Percy Cane … garden designer (Bartholomew, 1975). Proposals by Cane for the formal garden and for the addition of an arcaded porch to the garden front at Luttrellstown Castle, Co. Dublin, for the Hon. Brinsley Plunket are in the Irish Architectural Archive (Acc.2007/). They are undated but must have been drawn at some point between 1927, when Plunket's wife, Aileen, was given the house as a wedding present by her father, the Hon. Ernest Guinness, and 1941 when Plunket died. Later Cane designed gardens for the new house at Aughentaine, Co. Tyrone, which was built by Col. J.H. Hamilton Stubber in 1958 to designs by CLAUDE PHILLIMORE. CLAUDE PHILLIMORE. (1)
