Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect and builder, active in Cos. Galway and Mayo in the 1830s. On 26 August 1837 Thomas Murphy wrote to Martin Blake, of Brooklodge, Galway, offering to 'superintend or execute' the improvements on the house which he had heard Blake proposed to make. In his letter he lists a number of works in Co. Mayo which he had previously been engaged upon and names 'Mr John Browne' of Tuam as a referee.(1) He also made a model of DOMINICK MADDEN' DOMINICK MADDEN' s design for Tuam cathedral, which was used as a guide for the completion of the building after Madden's dismissal in 1829.(2)
