Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Amateur draughtsman, of Youghal, who drew up a design for a 'Sheil…to be erected in the Market Square at the Expense of the Corporation of the Town of Youghal for the purpose of protecting country people coming to the market with their provisions and also the poor women that weighs the potatoes from the inclemency of the wet and windy weather'. The sheil was 'designed by Matthew Hayman Esq Mayor of said Town Sept 29th 1834'.(1)
