Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Engineer, of Belfast and Dublin. John Percy Wakeford, a son of JOHN WAKEFORD  JOHN WAKEFORD and his wife Elizabeth, née Chapman, was born in Co. Antrim, on 4 November 1868.(1) He was articled to ROBERT GRAEME WATT  ROBERT GRAEME WATT of Belfast from 1884 to 1887, staying on as Watt's assistant until 1888. On 1 September 1888 he was appointed an assistant to JOSIAH CORBETT BRETLAND JOSIAH CORBETT BRETLAND , Belfast city engineer, remaining with him until November 1892, when he joined the staff of Dublin Corporation as an assistant to the city engineer, SPENCER HARTY SPENCER HARTY . He later worked in England.  He was surveyor to Bilston Urban District Council from 1902 or earlier until 1908, when he became city surveyor of Wakefield, Yorkshire. He still held latter post in 1918.
