Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Builder, of Mullaghmore, Omagh, Co. Tyrone, active from the 1870s or earlier until the 1890s or later. A printed testimonial, dated 26 September 1895, prepared by McBride to support his application for the position of clerk of works for new buildings at Omagh Asylum,(1) includes letters from six satisfied clients: THEOPHILUS FRENCH THEOPHILUS FRENCH , county surveyor for Co. Tyrone; Burleigh Stuart, of Dergmoney, Omagh; S.H. Ferguson, headmaster of the Omagh Model School; P.J. Byrne, parish priest of Eglish, Co. Tyrone; Charles Donegan of the Town Hall Auction Mart, Omagh, and John Fallows of the Marble and Stone Works, Omagh. According to Donegan, McBride combined 'in one person the skilful Architect, with the economical Contractor'. McBride's covering letter notes that he had already worked at the Omagh Asylum 'some years ago'.
