Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Land surveyor, of Abbeyleix, Co. Laois, who invented a composite surveying instrument, which was noted in Faulkner's Dublin Journal for 25-29 August 1767. In the brief entry on Brett in Sarah Bendall, ed., Dictionary of Land Surveyors and Local Map-Makers of Great Britain and Ireland 1530-1850 (2nd edition, 1997), II, 61, he is also described as a garden designer and hydrographer.
