Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

French sculptor who in 1872 designed fifty cast-iron drinking fountains for the connoisseur Richard Wallace (1818-1890), then resident in Paris, to provide the citizens of Paris with drinking water. Five of these fountains were erected in Lisburn, Co. Antrim, which Wallace represented in parliament from 1873 to 1785. Three of the Lisburn fountains were destroyed for scrap metal during the Second World War; the remaining two are in Castle Garden and Wallace Park.(1)
