Builder and timber merchant, of Usher's Quay, Dublin, active from the 1740s until the 1760s or later, during which period he was almost continuously employed on Government works in Dublin and elsewhere in the country. In 1751 he was election manager for ARTHUR JONES NEVILL ARTHUR JONES NEVILL , who was returned for Co. Wexford. 'Mr Pierce Archbold, Carpenter' was one of the subscribers to JOHN AHERON' JOHN AHERON' s A general treatise on architecture, published in Dublin in 1754. He was among ten contractors who in 1756 submitted proposals for the rebuilding of St Werburgh's church, Dublin, which had been gutted by fire in 1754. His proposal was shortlisted, but that of WILLIAM GOODWIN WILLIAM GOODWIN was eventually selected by the building committee. Archbold, who converted to the established church in 1758, died circa 1777; his will, dated 9 April 1776, was proved in the Prerogative Court on 16 August 1778. He was married to a wife named Ann and had a son, John, who was his executor. John's son was also named Pierce.
