Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Surveyor, of Castlerea, co. Roscommon, listed as such in Pigot & Co.'s City of Dublin and Hibernian Provincial Directory (1824). According to Sarah Bendall, ed., Dictionary of Land Surveyors and Local Map-Makers of Great Britain and Ireland 1530-1850 (2nd edition, 1997), II, 40, he was active from 1822 to 1834 as a surveyor of roads and estates. A surveyor named James Beytagh is listed in I. Slater's National Commercial Directory of Ireland (1846) as a surveyor, of Balindrimly, Roscommon, and is also noted by Bendell, loc.cit.
