Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Builder-architect, of Dublin. According to the Georgian Society Records, the houses built on the west side of Sackville (O'Connell) Street, Dublin, during the 1750s, 'were mostly speculations of the builder-architects of the day, such as Hugh Darley, Matthew Sleator, John Furnace, Alexander Thompson, John Turner, George Stewart, and Richard French'.(1) The will of Mathew Sleater, gent., of Dublin, dated 1773, is listed in Arthur Vicars, Index to the Prerogative Wills of Ireland 1536-1810 (1897), 428.
