Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Builder of the 1793 range of stables at Woodstock, Co. Kilkenny, with HENRY WATTERS HENRY WATTERS . Among the Tighe papers in the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland are a contract for constructing the building, signed by Watters on 1 July 1793, and a bill dated January 1794 is for 'mason, stone cutters, slaters, carpenters and layers work of two stables built at Woodstock by Henry Watters and Thomas Costello for William Tighe by William Robinson[sic]'. Although there are a plan and elevation of the stables 'given to William Tighe Esq by Henry Watters' and another drawing for the internal arrangements signed by Thomas Costello, both dated July 1793, was 'William Robinson' really the architect and can he be identified with WILLIAM ROBERTSON  WILLIAM ROBERTSON of Kilkenny, who designed wings for the house in 1804-6 and a new and larger stable block in 1812?
