In 1894 he was working on the Kyle Railway in Scotland but returned to Ireland following his father's death in April 1895. Later in 1895 he was appointed engineer to the Cork Harbour Commissioners, remaining in the post until at least 1933, when he was succeeded by his assistant FREDERICK O'CONNELL SAUNDERS. FREDERICK O'CONNELL SAUNDERS.
