English architect, for whom see Directory of British Architects 1834-1914 (RIBA 2001), I, 194. In Ireland Walter Blackett and JOSEPH JAMES  JOSEPH JAMES designed the Independent Chapel and schoolhouse in Stephen Street, Sligo, in 1852.(1)

Nature: New church, built by WB with Joseph James. Stone carving by Mr Parday.  Manse added 1863 (same architects?). Contractor (for manse only): Hunt. (Now public library and museum)
