Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Engineer and architect, active in Co. Cavan from 1907 or earlier until 1912 or later.   Thomas L. O'Brien, who, according to the 1911 census, was born in Co. Cavan in 1878 or 1879, was based in Stradone, Co. Cavan, in 1907.(1) At the beginning of 1908 he was appointed town surveyor and waterworks inspector for Cavan town,(2) at first on a temporary basis, but from early in 1909 on a permanent one.(3) He resigned in 1911, when he was succeeded by RICHARD N. WELLWOOD. RICHARD N. WELLWOOD. (4) He is also described as engineer to the rural district council of Bawnboy, Co. Cavan, in 1912.(5)  At the time of the 1911 census he had been married for four years to his wife, Mary Teresa, and had two daughters.   See also THOMAS O'BRIEN [3]. THOMAS O'BRIEN [3].
