Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect and surveyor, of Dungannon, Co. Tyrone, active from 1911(1) or earlier until 1918 or later. According to the 1911 census, Charles Newell, a son of Joseph Newell, provision merchant, of Dungannon, and his Newry-born wife, Mary, was born in Stewartstown, Co. Tyrone, in 1880 or 1881.  Having done work for  Dungannon Urban District Council and Board of Guardians in 1911 and 1912, he had become an assistant county surveyor for Co. Tyrone by 1915,(2) holding the post until at least 1918.(3) He appears to have been an older brother of JOHN NEWELL.  JOHN NEWELL.
